Valuable Insights 3 “Follow in His steps”

1 Peter 2:18-23 (RSV)
18  Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to the kind and gentle but also to the overbearing.
19  For one is approved if, mindful of God, he endures pain while suffering unjustly.
20  For what credit is it, if when you do wrong and are beaten for it you take it patiently? But if when you do right and suffer for it you take it patiently, you have God's approval.
21  For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22  He committed no sin; no guile was found on his lips.
23  When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly.

(1) He never sinned.
(2) No guile was found on his lips.
(3) When he was reviled, he did not revile in return.
(4) When he suffered, he did not threaten.
(5) He trusted to him who judges justly.

Consider these portions in God’s word.

1 Peter 3:13-18

“Who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good? But even if you should suffer for doing what is right, how happy you are! Do not be afraid of anyone, and do not worry. But have reverence for Christ in your hearts, and honor him as Lord. Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you, but do it with gentleness and respect. Keep your conscience clear, so that when you are insulted, those who speak evil of your good conduct as followers of Christ will become ashamed of what they say. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if this should be God's will, than for doing evil.” TEV (Highlighted text added)
