Plus, our three main character qualities, which are:

1. Wisdom vs. Natural inclinations
2. Persuasiveness Vs. Contentiousness
3. Cautiousness vs. Rashness

How can we evangelize this subject?

Ask this question to help us bring this subject to the surface. "How do we keep free from worldly contamination?"

Let us go further.

We can speak to ourselves and to God anywhere and at anytime!

(Let us examine 1 Corinthians 14:28)

1 Corinthians 14:28
“But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silence in church and speak to himself and to God.” (RSV)

If there is no one to interpret what was said in tongues, we are free to speak to our self and to God.

Notice the part speak to himself and to God”.

A person who is baptized in the Holy Spirit will be able to speak in tongues and in this verse, it is talking about tongues used in a public service. (Very important to understand)

Benefit 6 Speaking in tongues, is a means of keeping free from worldly contamination.

When we speak in tongues to our self and to God it preserves us and keeps us free from worldly contamination because we become God conscious and will be alert to who lives in us.

Once we realize who lives in us, we have a better, clearer, stronger opportunity to avoid worldly contamination.

Speaking in tongues does not make us perfect in this imperfect world, but it will manifest alertness to the One who lives in us to help us overcome worldly contamination. Furthermore, even if we are alert to the One who lives in us, we need to be obedient to His Word and promptings.

Keep in mind, we are responsible to obey the following portions of God's Word which will take some self-control. Yes, the Holy Spirit will help us overcome worldly contamination but we need to make the right choices.

2 Corinthians 10:5-6 (RSV)
We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 6 being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”

Notice the character qualities that were just mentioned, alertness, obedience, responsibility, and self-control. Therefore, character develop is important!

Continuing on, if a person can speak to himself and to God privately in a church service, they can speak to themselves and to God anywhere and at anytime.

My testimony: When I was working in the grocery industry, I was able to speak in tongues while I was checking. (No disturbance toward anyone)

We can also speak in tongues while taking a walk, on a plane, or in the car and while we read silently to our self.

Speaking in tongues is like a shield?

It keeps us safe like a shield from profane, and all the vulgar talk around us on the job or out in public. (At times I can sense the shield of protection when foul language is spoken) (Consider the shield of faith and the armor of God)

Speaking in tongues generates power!

As we speak in tongues it generates power to withstand temptations, sins, and all that is in world

1 John 2:16 (NKJV)
“For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world.”

Benefit 7 Praying in tongues enables us to pray for the unknown!

Remember we are using the D.A.D. approach throughout this teaching.

How can we evangelize this precious subject?

Answer, we can ask questions such as:

1. “Would you like the benefit of praying for the unknown?”

2. “Do you believe that God knows every need and everything about it?”

3. “Do you believe that God is everywhere at the same time?”

4. “Would you like to know how you could pray for things that no one thinks to pray or is even aware?”

Things to speak and think about and apply.

The Holy Spirit is everywhere and knows everything.

The Holy Spirit dwells in each Christian and is everywhere at the same time. He knows everything.

He knows what every need is and knows what to do about it.

God will use us to hit His prayer targets!

As we mature in the things of God, the Holy Spirit will call on us to pray in tongues for a person or situation in need.

The Holy Spirit will reveal to us what it is that we need to do; I call it God directed targets.

Target: Visit a person providing comfort, wisdom, or encouragement.

Target: The Holy Spirit could call on us to use our authority on someone’s behalf, praying a prayer of faith, or asking forgiveness for offending someone.

Praying in the spirit provides a way for things to be prayed for that we would not know anything about in the natural.

The Holy Spirit knows what is unknown to us.

He desires to work in harmony with us supernaturally revealing through tongues the needs of the people.
