Ambassadors for Christ Parts 1 and 2

Part 1

Part 2

Highlights:

The question before us today is, “Who are we?” (at least one thing)

2 Corinthians 5:17-21
17 When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!

18 All these new things are from God who brought us back to himself through what Christ Jesus did. And God has given us the privilege of urging everyone to come into his favor and be reconciled to him.

19 For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men's sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others.

20 We are Christ's ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you-be reconciled to God.

21 For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God's goodness into us!  TLB

2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. RSV

Bottom line.  We are ambassadors for Christ. (Knowing that affects what we do)

An ambassador for Christ in specific terms speaks to people.

It is not just praying even though we should have a prayer life.

Ephesians 6:18 (Excellent example of a prayer life)
18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people). AMP

It is not just studying even though we should have a study life to know what to say and handle God’s word towards others.

Acts 17:11
11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessaloni'ca, for they received the word with all eagerness, examining the scriptures daily to see if these things were so. RSV

2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. KJV

2 Timothy 2:15
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. RSV

As ambassadors for Christ, we are to SPEAK to people. (because we know who we are)

But remember we become believable through our character or reputation.

This is how I view a reputation.  (My behavior (character) in the world)

Dictionary definition for the word “Reputation” means the overall quality or character as seen or judged by people; a good name.

We need a good reputation as a vehicle to share our testimony with others, as an ambassador.

Note. We can use our testimony to communicate as an ambassador.

Our testimony means what God did in our life even if we mess up. (ongoing until death)

Dictionary definition for the word “testimony” means a public profession of religious experience.

When we mess up how we handle it affects our reputation. (our character of who we are)

Then that experience of how we handled it becomes part of our testimony of how God put things back together as a witness to others of what God can do.

It is not so much the mess up but rather how we get back on track with God’s help.

As ambassadors for Christ, we will mess up.

If we seriously realize and understand who we are we will demonstrate it and maybe not mess up as much.
