Cling to our heavenly Father.
This is a time when we seriously need to cling to our heavenly Father. As I was reading my Bible, I came across Jeremiah 13:1-11. In verse one God began to reveal some precious insights. Then, this prayer focus came to the surface, which I believe the children of God need every day.

Two key verses to consider:
Jeremiah 13:1 (NKJV)
Thus the LORD said to me: "Go and get yourself a linen sash, and put it around your waist, but do not put it in water."

Jeremiah 13:11
For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me,' says the LORD, 'that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.'

Four applications by faith: You can use these when praying for those in Christ.
Hear from the Lord. V1
Receive object lessons from the Lord. “linen sash” V1
Cling to Jesus as a linen sash around our waist. V11
Choose to obey. “but they would not hear” V11

Practical Insights:
(Read Jeremiah 13:1-11)

1. It would be wise to put off or bury the attitude of pride and let it rot or come to ruin. (V9-10)

2. Disobedience will cause a person to be ruined, like that sash, profitable for nothing.

Jeremiah 13:7
Then I went to the Euphrates and dug, and I took the sash from the place where I had hidden it; and there was the sash, ruined. It was profitable for nothing.

3. As believers in Christ, we ought to be profitable for God’s kingdom. “a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”

2 Timothy 2:19-21 (NKJV)
19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.

21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
