Fade from The Darkness Walk in the Light
This message is convicting, therefore, be ready! It is not an easy teaching to apply.
This teaching
If those in Christ Jesus know who they are in Christ Jesus, by faith they will fade from the darkness.
The following verse sums up the three problem areas of darkness we are dealing with in the world.
The problem
1 John 2:16
“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.”
If these three are not of the Father (Light) then they are of darkness.
(1) Lust of the flesh (Un-renewed mind) represents the thought life.
(2) Lust of the eyes represents the physical senses.
(3) Pride of life represents our character.
The Answer
God gives us the answer to these three problems of darkness.
Romans 12:2
“Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” RSV
Once we renew a portion of our mind we cannot go back to our former ignorance.
1 Peter 1:13-16
13 Therefore gird up your minds, be sober, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
15 but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct;
16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy." (RSV)
Our example
John 16:33 (Jesus speaking)
“In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." RSV
Jesus has proven it and has given His steps to follow!
Our steps to follow:
1 Peter 2:21-23
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin; no guile was found on his lips. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly.” RSV
(1) He committed no sin!
(2) No guile was found on His lips!
(3) When He was reviled, He did not revile in return!
(4) When He suffered, He did not threaten but He trusted to Him who judges justly.
Application
To help us retain and apply this message, we will us an acrostic. “F.A.D.E.S.”
He who F.A.D.E.S. from the darkness is the one who increases the light in their life.
Suggested areas to include in our prayers.
(1) Change our thought life by renewing our minds.
(2) Re-direct our physical senses by renewing our minds.
(3) Form or develop our character by renewing our mind.
If anyone obeys James 1:22 the acrostic of F.A.D.E.S. will set them free!
The acrostic of F.A.D.E.S. is revealed in the life-changing teaching above and the videos. Valuable information!
Summary:
This teaching provides a practical and spiritual framework for overcoming darkness by renewing the mind according to biblical principles. It addresses three primary areas where darkness manifests: the lust of the flesh (thought life), the lust of the eyes (physical senses), and the pride of life (character). The problem is rooted in these three aspects, as noted in 1 John 2:16, which are not of God but of the world.
The Answer: Renewing the Mind
The remedy to these problems is found in Romans 12:2, which encourages believers not to conform to the world but to be transformed by renewing their minds. This transformation is essential for discerning God's will. Once a person renews their mind, they should not revert to previous ignorance (1 Peter 1:13-16).
Jesus as the Example
Christ's life serves as a model for overcoming the world (John 16:33). Jesus demonstrated a life without sin, deceit, or retaliation, even amidst suffering (1 Peter 2:21-23). These actions are steps believers are called to follow in their pursuit of holiness.
Application: F.A.D.E.S.
The acrostic "F.A.D.E.S." offers a practical approach to escaping darkness and increasing light in one's life. This involves:
- Focusing on changing thought patterns by renewing the mind.
- Adjusting physical senses through mental renewal.
- Developing godly character by reshaping the mind according to scripture.
- Engaging in continual reflection and transformation.
- Stepping forward in faith, trusting God's judgment.
Prayer Points
In prayer, seek transformation in thought life, physical senses, and character development through the renewing of the mind. Obedience to James 1:22—being doers of the word—will enable believers to "fade" from darkness and live in the light.
