Food crisis will create millions more hungry: Oxfam (More)
A “broken” food system coupled with depleting natural resources and severe climate change will more than double the price of staples such scorn in the next two decades as demand spirals, hitting poor people the hardest, according to an Oxfam International report.
The international aid agency’s “Growing a Better Future,” a 74-page report released Tuesday, chronicles symptoms of a worldwide food crisis that “will create millions more hungry people unless we transform the way we grow and share food.”
The report was released before Oxfam’s launch Wednesday of a global GROW campaign to pressure governments to beef up policies to address hunger, and lobby companies to do their share in helping drive down food prices.
“Our world is capable of feeding all of humanity, yet one in seven [925million people worldwide] of us are hungry today,” says Jeremy Hobbs, executive director of Oxfam. “In this new age of crisis, as climate change impacts become increasingly severe and fertile land and freshwater supplies become increasingly scarce, feeding the world will get harder still.
“Millions more men, women, and children will go hungry unless we transform our broken food system.”

This prayer focus is enormous and will be around for a long time. Even though we might not see any physical results from our prayers, we must believe that our prayers avail much, for we walk by faith and not by sight.
Consider the following verses.
John 20:29
"Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe." RSV
James 5:16 "
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." NKJV
2 Corinthians 5:7
"for we walk by faith, not by sight." RSV
Suggested Prayers
(Seek, Eat and Teach)
1. Pray that those who are without food seek the One who is more than enough to supply their needs.
Matthew 6:33
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well." RSV
2 Corinthians 9:8
"And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good work." RSV
2. Pray for those around the world who hunger for physical food to desire and eat spiritual food.
Matthew 4:4
"It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" RSV
John 6:27
“Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." NKJV
3. Believe God to send believers across the paths of the needy to feed them physical food and teach them how to pray for their needs to be met.
1 Peter 2:21
"For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps." RSV
Luke 10:2
"Then He said to them, "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." NKJV
